KAMARLEE SHETLAND SHEEPDOGS

KAMARLEE is an affix granted by the English Kennel Club to our Shetland Sheepdog kennel. All owners who have shetland sheepdogs registered with the English Kennel Club can apply for an affix.

My affix of KAMARLEE is made up as follows :-

My first show shetland sheepdog was owned by my daughter Karen............. KA

My daughter was born in March............................................................................ MAR

The bitches pet name was Kylee.......................................................................... LEE

I first started in shetland sheepdogs in 1969 with a puppy which was bought from a commercial kennel, her name was Tinto Prancer and she came originally from Scotland. I realised when she was about four months old that she was not a very good specimen at all. She was too large, her ears remained pricked despite all efforts to get them over. She was just a pet. Apart from this she had a fantastic temperament and lived until she was 13 years old. This bitch was a good example of "Not to buy from a Commercial Breeder".

After this I bought a shetland sheepdog bitch from an established Sheltie Breeder for my daughter's birthday. Her name was AMBETE OF KYLEBURN (Kylee). Her sire was LOUGHRIGG KINGS MINSTREL and dam KYLEBURN COCKTAIL. She was a nice bitch not of top show quality but did quite a lot of winning at open shows. I then bought a very good bitch for showing, her name was LAIDERETTE of KYLEBURN born 5th July 1975. I started showing her in 1976 and she won at open and championship shows all through her life. I made her into a Champion in 1980. She died at almost 16 years old. She only had four puppies out of one litter. Two were born dead - a caesarean had to be done and two more puppies were born, one tricolour bitch and one sable bitch, The tricolour puppy died at three weeks ( cause unknown) the other one, KAMARLEE JAVARI JEWEL, survived and was the foundation of our line of "Laiderette" shetland sheepdogs .

Another of my bitches had one C.C., she was KAMARLEE MORNING MIST but an illness prevented her from being shown after her first C.C.and another dog Kamarlee Midnight Gamble had one C.C.

I am no longer breeding puppies but will continue showing my dogs

All my dogs are in the house, they have their own room, one of my bedrooms was made into a dog room with a door opening onto the garden and dog runs.

I feed my dogs meat and mixer daily, I prefer this to the "All-in-One" method.

All my dogs love the caravan, touring with us during the summer shows.
